Your efforts can make a big impact

Due to the generosity of the Northern Beaches, and Sydney wide community we’ve been able to:

1. Fund 18 critical cancer research projects, including a recent study on colorectal cancer, an increasingly prevalent issue in Australia, particularly among younger people.
2. Provide local access to cutting-edge treatments through seed funding a clinical trials coordinator at Northern Beaches Hospital.
3. Offer personalised patient support via funding a Cancer Care Coordinator at Northern Beaches Hospital.
4. Promote early detection and prevention with free cancer screening clinics.
5. Bring comfort to chemotherapy patients through care packs delivered to Northern Beaches Hospital.

Thanks to the generous support from the Fight for a Cure community, Prof Matt Dun's DIPG research, which received funding in 2019, has already yielded promising early results.

Dr Malinda Itchin's study found that using the patient’s blood samples to monitor DNA (genes) and proteins in the blood can help predict how a patient will perform on treatment. These blood test analyses were made possible with Fight on the Beaches support.

Our progress so far
